Happiness Designer Program

We are facing a world with challenges from environmental degradation, climate change, social unrest, economic crisis, and education. The fashion industry is closely connected with all these issues. The crisis we face is no longer regional or even national, and environmental issues are only the surface of our problems. On a deeper level disasters brought to the earth reflect the weakness of human nature—we cannot escape the consequences of human’s short-sightedness, selfishness, greed, and narrowness. As our living environment creators, designers cannot continue creating short-term trends that facilitate only consumerism.

What kind of designers do we need now and for the future?

We need designers who have a holistic view of life and understand the deep sacred connections that all beings have with each other and Mother Earth. We need designers who are the active bearers of social responsibility, the leaders of the times with right values and social morals.

We need designers who can heal the disconnections and nurture our next generation and build a regenerative and happy future through all their designs in every aspect of life.

Our Happiness Designer Program will cultivate and foster a new generation of designers who can provide holistic solutions to the challenges we are facing collectively.

Happiness Designers are trained to:

  • Design to reconnect

  • Design to heal

  • Design to nourish

  • Design to recycle

  • Design to regenerate

  • Design to learn

  • Design to harmonize

The Happiness Designers also shoulder these responsibilities:

Ecological Responsibility

Designers have a responsibility to mitigate possible negative impacts on the Earth's ecosystems throughout the design and production process. Designers should reject products that simply pursue commercial interests and damage the environment. Harm to the earth will be minimized by design. Designs must consider the long-term use and recycling of the product, rather than short-lived and disposable products.

Moral Responsibility

The sensitivity and creativity of designers are not only reflected in their professional skills, but also in their social awareness and moral standards. The designer must have her/his own guiding value system rather than a mercenary who is always willing to accommodate consumers. Designers have the responsibility not to manipulate consumers in order to achieve more sales. Designers should carry social consciousness and have honesty and integrity.

Cultural Heritage Responsibility

We live in a world that’s built on the wisdom and creativity of our predecessors. Various cultures have benefited us profoundly. We have a responsibility to protect, pass down and further develop these treasures of culture. The future of mankind should not be jeopardized in our time. The best inheritance should not be just in the museums, but be in our lives. In real life, through creativity, traditions can renew their vitality.

Creating educational environments for children to cultivate an aesthetic sense

We are living in a time when designer brands are impacting every aspect of our lives, especially the young generations that are the future of the earth. Children’s health is directly related to the information, images, and products that are put in the media and sold to their parents. Children’s senses are grown in an environment that is curated by adults. It is sad that many companies are making money by abusing children’s attention and enforcing unhealthy ideas. We really need to raise awareness of designers and parents. Parents need to make better choices about consumption and what environment they place their children in. A healthy future of earth depends on our healthy young generation.

According to child development research, if a child is helped to develop a high level of aesthetic sense from a young age, later in life they will have a pair of eyes that can discover beauty and a pair of hands to make quality work/products. Also, such a child will not want to destroy the earth or hurt the environment because they will be in touch with the beauty of nature. Once aesthetic sense is formed in the human, it works in a magical way on our minds intellectually and on our morality. It will help human beings to perfect themselves in life. A high aesthetic sense will also help people to give up discrimination and judgement and give them a pure heart and mind to reach an internal harmony.

The Happiness Designer Program will inspire and nurture Happy Designers to lead and design a happy and suitable living environment for all beings that leads to a sustainable future of the world.
